Here’s to a New Beginning!
I know, I know, you’re probably thinking, “What is she talking about? April isn’t the beginning of anything! But this time of year always feels like a new beginning to me.
Maybe this feeling comes from growing up in Syracuse, NY, where the entire world changes with the onset of spring. We, as a community, would go from dormant to YAY! So that’s a good enough reason, right?
Also, it’s not too late to hit that reset button and start new.
So, here are some things I plan to do and want to share. See if any get you thinking:
1. Revisit my morning routine.
This one is hard! I’ve been back and forth and up and down with redefining an uplifting and inspiring morning routine. Now, I’m taking a moment to reflect on what’s working and what’s not and to implement new ideas (for great inspiration, learn about the 5 am club here.)
This leads me to:
2. Recommit to regular mediation practice.
There’s no time like to present to get on the meditation pillow. As in – right now!
3. Get outside more every day.
Somehow, even living in southern California, some days go by where I barely get outside. Therefore, I plan to get out every day, even just to sit at a cafe and work.
4. Refocus on physical health and wellbeing.
This one I’ve been doing well with, but I need to continue to step it up.
5. Welcome new friendships and deepen the relationships that I already have.
Sometimes I think I find myself nestled into the grooves I have with the people in my life. But, I need to remember that there are still so many friends to meet and many friendships that can go deeper.
Now seems like a good time to be open to both.
6. Recommit to a grander, faithful picture (to a new beginning!).
Time keeps rolling along, and sometimes a week may fly by when I’ve lost touch with that wise, inner resource and a more graceful, meaningful vision that I always have within my reach. I commit to holding that vision at the center of my thoughts and intentions.
7. Get more clear on my “why.”
Along the same note, take time a consider why I’m going the things I do. What’s important to me? And am I using my time wisely?
8. What’s critical to a new beginning? Releasing what’s holding me back.
Looking back at this year so far, I can see a few trends. Old fears have crept up here and there – and I’m committed to doing whatever work I need to do to see them for what they are and keep them at bay.
9. Edit my wardrobe for a new beginning.
This one is silly and fun, but it’s time to revise! Let things go out with the old and in with the new.
10. Renew my focus on having fun!
More and more, I realize the importance of just letting go, laughing, dancing, and having a good old time! So often in my life, I’ve been busy working along (in survival mode) and have forgotten to appreciate the joys of everyday life.
I hope to slow down enough to appreciate them more this year!
So, what do you think? Are you feeling some of the same way I am? Let me know in the comments below.
And, here’s to a new beginning! Let’s embrace this time together and move into the new season with hopeful, joyful anticipation.
