Easy and Versatile Dresses for January
Kate’s Closet: Easy and versatile dresses are the theme for January! Follow along with tips and advice from RCG’s resident stylist, KATE BOTTS, who believes that fashion should be an enjoyable creative outlet and make you feel uniquely confident in your own skin.
RCG: Hi, Kate! I’m so excited to talk with you today. I’ve had a look at your selections, and I’m obsessed. Let’s get started with the COS collarless shirt dress! What exactly made you choose this dress?
Dress #1 – The Collarless Shirt Dress Is So Versatile
Kate: I picked this dress because of the relaxed everyday feel of it. You can wear it with an ankle boot and or a pair of sneakers. Also, try it with a belt or without a belt. It would pair beautifully with a long coat. It has a sort of abstract line to it as well. If you look at it straight on, it looks like an A-line dress with an extra piece behind it.
Then, you notice it has this sort of intricate detail on the side. It has a full skirt at the back.
I love it. This is really, truly an everyday dress.
You could dress it up with a black belt and a colored knee-high boot.
RCG: Yes, it’s really versatile. I like that you can wear it in so many different ways. I like that it’s so easy and has that unexpected element of chic!
Let’s go to the next one- the organic knitted A-line dress. This dress is stunning.
Dress #2- The Elegant and Easy Knitted A-line Dress
Kate: I love this dress. It is a killer piece.
RCG: This dress looks way more expensive than it is.
Kate: Oh my God, I know. It reminds me actually of an old Celine style from the 70s. It’s such a neutral piece.
I’d like to see it with a western-style boot. Maybe a toffee tan or British tan color. And, you can do also pair it with black, navy, or white.
Super-versatile.
RCG: This is so beautiful. It’s so elegant.
Kate: You can wear it with white sneakers and a cross-body bag.
I would also consider accessorizing a top handle bag with this just because of the sleeves’ volume. It could also be paired with a leather jacket.
RCG: Let’s go to the next one. The flared V-neck dress.
Dress #3- The Super Versatile Flared V-neck Dress
Kate: This dress, I thought, it’s just sort of fun. If you want to throw something on, that’s not a t-shirt, this is a great option. It’s made in one of their unique fabrics, which is slightly stiffer, so it wears really well.
It’s just an easy throw on that you can wear with tights, without tights. Additionally, you could wear it with sneakers or ankle boots.
RCG: I love the almost mindlessness of this. You can just put it on and go. The neckline adds a bit of edge also. I love that.
Okay, let’s go onto the last one now—the black faux leather top stitch midi dress.
Dress #4- The Black Faux Leather Midi Dress
Kate: So this one is obviously a different price point.
I can see this with a pretty blouse underneath.
You could have the sort of retro Dolce moment with this.
RCG: Would you wear tights with this dress?
Kate: It really depends on the season. This is a fall, winter, spring piece.
You could also do a skinny tissue weight turtleneck underneath it, in a different color.
Faux leather is just a really nice staple to have in your closet.
You can wear something under that’s really cool.
Think of it like you’re investing in a piece, and you can do multiple things with it.
Wear it with nothing underneath it and just a heel, like the model pictured in another image.
Or, try wearing it with a printed shirt underneath and a boot.
As an option, you could also wear it with a feminine white shirt underneath it and a pair of flats.
It’s just another one of those very versatile pieces.
RCG: So, you’ve brought in classic, versatile pieces that are going to get us through this year and beyond!
I’m feeling very drawn to this classic style of dressing. Maybe it’s because our lives are so wacky right now.
It just seems like this type of style, that’s really simple, is more appealing.
Just having things that are really easy just put on is such a bonus.
Kate: As I’ve said before, just get out of your gym clothes. That’s the goal!
RCG: Thank you, Kate! I’m grateful for your words of encouragement and motivation. Now I’m going to run upstairs and change!
